Sustainability Policy

Ashleigh Farm Caravan and Glamping constantly strives to minimise the negative environmental and social impacts of tourism by investing in improving the environment and local landscape and encouraging visitors to enjoy and respect the local countryside and use the local services and businesses and community as a whole. We do this in the following ways:

Environmental Sustainability:

At Ashleigh Farm Caravan and Glamping we have worked extremely hard to protect and enhance the natural environment and local landscape by planting over 200 trees and large areas of hedging across the site. These are now becoming well established and it is encouraging wildlife into the area. We have also established a natural pond that allows water to collect in one place rather than numerous smaller points across the site. This is further encouraging wildlife into the area and is prevent flooding at lower points of the village.

Our glamping site runs entirely on solar power with each unit having a solar pack that runs lighting and provides charging ports for phones and tablets etc. Whilst the caravan site and the bathrooms do run on electric, this is offset as much as possible by our 4kw bank of solar panels. All resources provided to our visitors are sustainable, such as reusable bottles and jars in the welcome baskets and recycled horse bedding compressed into logs that we provide for the firepits and log burners.

We encourage our visitors to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area by providing them with a map with local countryside walks that are accessible direct from our site. Many visitors to the caravan site enjoy cycling and we help and advise them to use the quiet country lanes around the small villages and hamlets in the area. We try to reduce the impact of transport, particularly with visitors travelling to the city of Lincoln. We do this by encouraging visitors to use public transport and park and ride facilities. All of this aims to reduce carbon emissions, air pollution and congestion.

We work extremely hard to minimise resource use and waste production by encouraging our visitors to recycle all waste possible. This is checked thoroughly by site staff to ensure that all that can be recycled, is recycled.

Social Sustainability:

We have worked with our local community, who were sceptical on first hearing about our expansion into glamping, to enable them to see the benefits of small tourism enterprises such as ours by enabling them to see the benefits to the local area, such as supporting our local pubs and cafes, village events, our church etc.

Many of our visitors are keen to visit the market town of Gainsborough and the city of Lincoln. By encouraging them to stay in villages on the outskirts of the city, we are helping to ease the pressure on the city itself.

Economic Sustainability:

Ashleigh Farm Caravan and Glamping site has become a real asset to other local businesses such as the various local pubs, cafes, tea rooms and farm shops as well as other tourist attractions such as stately homes/halls, heritage centres, antiques centres etc. This has attracted inward investment that has helped some local businesses thrive.
